Engine programmer

About the position

Starbreeze Studios is looking for an Engine Programmer. You will be working in our technology department maintaining and extending the game engine that we use. You will be part of planning your own work together with the Lead Engine Programmer and Technical Director. The position is available immediately.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain and extend our technology
  • Ensure the technical quality of the product through tuning and bug fixing
  • Contribute innovative and original ideas toward all aspects of the game’s production and development
  • Write robust, maintainable code


What we are looking for 

We are looking for a highly technical and communicative person with experience from using 3rd party engines such as Cry Engine or Unreal. You will be one of the core engine developers for the new era of 3rd party engine use at Starbreeze. This position will involve extending the 3rd party engine to make use of the areas of expertise that Starbreeze has and to make sure that Starbreeze continue to be in the front of technology development. You must have a deep understanding and passion for games and game development. You are a avid gamer, and you are constantly following current trends and keeping up to date on technological advancement in all fields of games technologies.

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of C++ programming
  • Strong software architecting and engineering skills
  • Deep understanding and experience of game development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC
  • Experience with third party engines such as CryEngine or Unreal
  • Great English skills
  • Passion for games
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

  

Pluses

  • Deeper experience in any of the following areas; X360, PS3, Network, Low Level systems, Physics, Graphics, Streaming
  • Shipped game(s)
  • C# experience
  • Familiarity with SCRUM/Agile processes
