“The landscape of entertainment is rapidly transforming. Experiences are moving from linear to user-determined, pushing storytelling to responsive and inclusive formats. The virtual reality setting allows us to completely immerse our players in our games. Starbreeze is on the frontier of VR development and we see it as a new platform ready for AAA experiences in games such as OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead.”, says Bo Andersson Klint, Starbreeze CEO.
“Virtual Reality is here to stay and will skyrocket the world of entertainment to a completely new level. At Starbreeze, we are set to be one of the frontrunners of this ground breaking development, bringing the next generation entertainment experiences to reality,” says Bo Andersson Klint.
On June 13, Starbreeze announced the start of the StarVR project, with the acquisition of InfinitEye, a French developer of VR hardware. InfinitEye, henceforth known as Starbreeze Paris, is developing a head-mounted display (HMD) with the widest field-of-view – 210 degrees – in the world. The StarVR headset is currently in a prototyping and development phase. Through the acquisition, Starbreeze becomes one of the first technology companies to publish and develop both the software and hardware components of VR, allowing for a holistic approach covering all the dimensions involved.
